- Computer opponent: Choose
a computer opponent from the list. The opponents differ slightly
in strength and style of playing, but you can
adjust the strength for the choosen opponent with the listbox beside.
Choose
<none> in case of a Networkgame or if you want to play both sides.
With the listbox Side you choose the color of the opponent, the white
side always begins the game.

- Strength: The
strength of playing of the computer opponent. Higher Strength means
more time to calculate the move, this can last up to several hours
in case of Strength 9 for example. Lower Strength means more simple
playing and the computer opponent doesn't look forward as
wide.

- Appearance of the board and the
table: You can
adjust the appearance of the board and the table here.

Set of pieces and
Material: The listbox 'Set of pieces' contains different
sets of standard chesspieces as well as several animated set of pieces.
Additionally you may choose a material for standard chesspieces.

- 3D mode: Use this button
to switch between 2D and 3D view.

- Mirror effect (3D only): This
option adds a mirror effect to the chess table. However this effect
needs additional cpu power and is only available if your graphics
card supports this feature.

- Show table (3D only): Displays
or hides the table if you use 3D mode.

- Animation (3D
only): Turns the animation of the chess pieces on
or off in case that a animated set of pieces is chosen. If
this option is turned off you can move the pieces of an animated
piece set in the same way as the standard pieces,
that means you take a figure with the mouse by clicking on it with
the left mousebutton and drag it to the target field. If this
option is turned on you just have to click on the start and
the target field to enter a move, animated pieces will walk
to the target field by itself then. Use the Animation Speed
bar to adjust the speed of animation for the animated pieces
by draging the bar with left mousebutton pressed to the left
or to the right.

- Light (3D only): Switches
between two different positions for the light source. Additionally
you can adjust the brightness by draging the Brightness
bar with left mousebutton pressed to the left or to the right.

- Soundeffects: Turns
the soundeffects on or off. Ein-/Ausschalten der Soundeffekte.
Use the Volume
bar to adjust the volume of the soundeffects by draging
the bar with left mousebutton pressed to the left
or to the right.

- Music: Turns
the background music on or off.
Use the listbox to choose a piece of music, you can add additional
music pieces by copying a midi file into the midi folder of the
program. Use the Volume
bar to adjust the volume of the soundeffects by draging
the bar with left mousebutton pressed to the left
or to the right.

- Opening
Book: Switches the usage of the Opening Book on
or off. If this option is turned on, the computer opponent
tries to find a suitable standard move in the book first before
calculating one.

- Board coordinates: Display
or hides the board coordinates at the border of the chessboard.

- Teaching mode: Turns
teaching mode on or off. If this option is turned on, the program
marks all possible target fields on the board for the choosen chess
piece.

- Background: From
this list you can choose another background picture.

- Network game: Click
the Start button to start a network game. The other player must then
enter your IP adress and click on
the Connect button to establish a connection. Your IP adress can
be either
your
adress
in an local
network or your internet IP. It is shown to you next to the Start
button after you have started a network game. After the connection
is established, the other player (who has connected to your game)
gets the color which is choosen on the top of the Options dialog
under Side. You can change the color for your opponent as long as
no move is made by you or your opponent. Press
oder to
send a textmessage to the other player. To
disconnect from a network game simply click the button Start or
Connect again. If
a firewall is installed port 20000 must be given free on both sides
to enable a connection.
