Notation window

The notation window shows all moves of the game in short notation. If you click on a move in this window, the board is updated to the proper playing position. Every move in the notation always consists of two half moves, beginning with the notation for white and followed by the notation for black. The first letter is representing the figure (e.g. N for the knight) and the next two characters are standing for the target field. Pawns are exceptions from this rule because their moves are notated only by the target field. Castling is notated as 0-0 for king's side castling and 0-0-0 for queen's side castling. If a piece has been captured a x is preceding the target field. For example the 20. move in the notation window above means that the white knight has captured the figure standing on field e5 and then the black pawn on d6 has captured the white knight on e5.

As mentioned before you may set back the position to any preceding move just by selecting the proper move in the notation window and continue playing from this position if you own the side which moves next. If the computer player has the next move, just open and close the Options window to force the computer to continue.

For example: To take back your last move simply click on the preceding half move in the notation window
